It belongs to the early generation of programmable memory chips, widely used in computers, control systems, and embedded electronics during the late 1970s and early 1980s.  
The chip comes in a ceramic DIP package with a quartz window, allowing ultraviolet (UV) erasure – a classic hallmark of early EPROM technology.
